Compliance Officer

HEVN is a Y Combinator-backed fintech startup based in San Francisco. We are building the next generation of global payments for physical goods, with the goal of offering a fast, scalable alternative to SWIFT for the G7 to APAC/MENA corridor.

We serve exporters and businesses engaged in global trade, helping them move money across borders with fiat - stablecoin - fiat model. Our mission is to modernize the financial infrastructure behind international commerce and remove the delays and unpredictability that businesses experience today.

Role Description

Compliance is one of the core components of our product. We believe modern technology and AI can make compliance faster, more accurate, and more effective while preserving strong human oversight and regulatory accountability. This person will lead that transition, helping us rethink how compliance operates across the industry while ensuring the safety of our customers and partners.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining the company’s compliance program, controls, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting.
• Overseeing KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, investigations, audits, and training.
• Supervising AI-assisted compliance workflows and maintaining appropriate human oversight.
• Embedding scalable compliance controls into products, payments, and new-market expansion.

Qualifications

• Compliance experience in regulated stablecoins, fintech, payments, banking, or digital assets.
• Strong knowledge of AML, KYC/KYB, sanctions, cross-border payments, and global trade.
• Experience building scalable, risk-based compliance programs and supervising automated systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills; relevant certifications are an advantage.
• Canadian or EU residency.
• 5+ years of relevant compliance experience.
