Payments for European Companies

European companies often need EUR and GBP payments at home alongside USD collections and international supplier payments. This guide covers the available rails, account setup, onboarding documents, and stablecoin regulation across Europe.

International payment routes for European companies

An approved European company can use HEVN to collect and send EUR through SEPA, manage GBP through Faster Payments or BACS, and add USD routes for customers and suppliers outside Europe. Invoices, transaction records, and supporting documents stay together for reconciliation and review.

For most customer and supplier payments, fiat transfers provide the clearest transaction record. Depending on the account and corridor, supported rails include SEPA, Faster Payments, BACS, ACH, US domestic wire, SWIFT, and selected local bank transfers.

Supported payment rails

USD is available through SWIFT. EUR and GBP rails support both pay-in and payout with account details in the company's name. Payout-only local rails use a pooled account in the provider's name.

Documents to prepare

Onboarding documents depend on the country of incorporation. Examples include:

  • Germany: Handelsregisterauszug, Steuernummer or USt-IdNr, a Mietvertrag, utility bill, or bank statement dated within the past 90 days, and a Gesellschafterbeschluss or notarielle Vollmacht
  • United Kingdom: Certificate of Incorporation, Confirmation Statement (CS01), UTR notification letter, recent proof of address, and a board minute, written resolution, or deed-form Power of Attorney
  • Switzerland: Handelsregisterauszug, UID-Bescheinigung or MWST-Bescheinigung, recent proof of address, and a Verwaltungsratsbeschluss or Vollmacht

HEVN may also request identity documents for directors and beneficial owners, an ownership chart, contracts and invoices, expected counterparties, and evidence of source of funds.

Stablecoins and regulation in Europe

In the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCA) sets rules for issuers of e-money tokens and for crypto-asset service providers. A company may use supported stablecoins through an appropriately authorized provider, but MiCA does not make every token legal tender or an approved investment. The UK and Switzerland apply separate national regimes.

For ordinary customer and supplier payments, fiat transfers through SEPA, Faster Payments, BACS, or SWIFT are usually simpler. They pay the beneficiary directly in fiat and create bank records that are easier to reconcile for accounting and tax reporting.

Benefits of a Fiat Account for a European company

  • Receive payments from US customers through ACH or domestic wire.
  • Use account details in your company's name to match incoming payments with customers and invoices.
  • Keep USD to pay US suppliers, contractors, software vendors, and other operating costs.
  • Move funds between EUR, GBP, and USD accounts when another currency or payment rail is needed.
  • Keep invoices, payment records, confirmations, exports, roles, and approvals in one workspace.

We'll confirm available accounts, payment rails, limits, pricing, and expected account-opening time during onboarding.
