International Bank Transfer Pending: What to Do and When to Contact Support

A pending transfer is not necessarily lost. It may be waiting for a processing window, sitting with an intermediary, or paused while a bank checks the payment and its documents.

The useful question is not “Why is it slow?” It is “Which institution has the payment, and what does it need next?”

A local transfer and a SWIFT payment follow different paths. Identify the rail, then collect the reference that lets the bank locate the instruction.

Check the expected processing window

Weekends, holidays, cut-off times, and time zones can add days without anything being wrong. A SEPA payment, domestic wire, and SWIFT transfer do not share one delivery time. The beneficiary bank may also post an incoming credit after the network has completed its part.

For HEVN support, a cross-border transfer can remain within a normal processing or review window for up to seven business days, depending on the sending, intermediary, and beneficiary banks, currency, and compliance checks. This is not a guaranteed delivery time. Some payments arrive sooner and some investigations take longer.

Common reasons for a delay

Incorrect details

A beneficiary mismatch, wrong account number, invalid BIC, incomplete address, or unclear purpose can stop automated processing.

An intermediary is involved

A SWIFT payment may settle through correspondent accounts. Each institution has its own processing and controls.

Compliance review

A bank may need to understand the sender, beneficiary, source of funds, payment purpose, or relationship between the parties. A compliance hold means the bank has not released the payment while the review is open. It does not by itself mean rejection.

Activity is unusual

A first deposit, new counterparty, large amount, new country, or sudden volume increase can trigger manual review.

SWIFT notes that cross-border payments pass through different jurisdictions, currencies, and compliance regimes.

What to collect

For SWIFT, request the MT103 or ISO 20022 confirmation and UETR. For any transfer, collect the amount, currency, dates, sender and beneficiary names, bank details, reference, current bank status, invoice or contract, payment purpose, and messages already received.

A screenshot saying “completed” is less useful than the full confirmation.

Write to support with one complete message

Email [email protected] and identify the HEVN entity:

April Corp Ltd sent USD 85,000 on 8 July 2026 to Supplier LLC. The beneficiary has not received it. Attached are the MT103, UETR, invoice, and signed agreement. The sending bank says the payment left its account on 9 July. Please confirm the correspondent status and whether more information is required.

HEVN can contact the partner, request a status check, and confirm whether an RFI is open.

During a compliance hold

Respond to the exact questions. Make sure documents match the names, amount, currency, and purpose in the transfer.

Do not split the payment, change the description, or send a duplicate to avoid review. That creates more questions and makes reconciliation harder.

When to escalate

Contact support immediately if the payment is rejected or returned, details were wrong, an RFI has a deadline, fraud is suspected, or a duplicate may have been sent.

If it is pending inside the expected window, support can log and monitor it. Once the delay exceeds that window, the partner can escalate a formal investigation.

HSBC's SWIFT gpi documentation explains how the UETR shows status across settlement stages. Tracking provides evidence. It does not force a bank to complete an open review.

How to request a payment investigation in HEVN

  1. Open Payments and select the pending transfer.
  2. Check the current status and processing date.
  3. Attach the MT103 or payment confirmation and UETR.
  4. Add the invoice, contract, and payment purpose.
  5. Select Get support and ask for a partner status check.
  6. Respond in the same case if the bank opens an RFI.

If the payment is still within the normal bank window, HEVN will monitor it. If the window has passed, the partner can escalate an investigation.
